24 Hours at The Falcon
Spend 24 Hours at the Falcon
Slow Market Town Mornings
Open the curtains to the Market Place below or the town rooftops, as the first light skips across Uppingham. Relax back into bed with a steaming cup of coffee, or seize the day, grab your coat and wander the sleepy streets before they wakeup for the day.
Breakfast with Purpose
Breakfast is there to energise us ready for the day. Fresh pastries & fruits, a strong cup of tea, and cooked breakfast awaits as you come down the stairs. Our eggs are from the farm in the nearby village and the perfect protein the power you for the day.
An Uppingham Exploration
It’s time to explore; step outside the door and you’re in the middle of our Market Town which was made for wandering. Drop into independent shops and art galleries, browse the antiques or stroll through the Georgian Streets.
If it is a Friday, the Market Place is full of flowers, vegetables, baked goods and conversation.
Prefer movement? Head out on foot towards Rutland’s rolling lanes or hire a bike for a loop around the countryside.
Top Tip: If you are going for a stomp around the local footpaths, take a famous Don Paddy’s Sausage Roll with you (We can definitely vouch for them!)
A Long Lunch in the Lounge
Return to The Falcon for a long, easy lunch. Whether you relax in the Main Lounge with a crisp glass of Rose and classic Marie Rose Prawn Sandwich (and let’s face it, a side of fries) or you pull up a chair in the Tap Bar, Oak Pannelled and oozing in history, enjoying our locally sourced, delicious brasserie menu, we don’t rush lunch here.
We’ve got our specials running too, and we’re not afraid to use specials as they should be, doing our bit to close the circle of food usage, doing what we can to minimise waste.
An afternoon’s adventure
There’s always an extra lane or shop to delve into in Uppingham, but if you fancy pulling on your wellies, and discovering Rutland there’s plenty to see. Walk around the illustrious Rutland Water, hire an e-bike and pedal to the nearby villages & Eye-Brook Reservoir or follow the footpaths to the nearest pub for a pint. We’ve got some great vineyard recommendations if a glass or two is on the cards.
If you’d prefer an afternoon settling in, grab a book and leaf through the pages in the lounge as the hours drift by.
In the Summer, the Garden Terrace Courtyard is the place to be in town. At the back of the Falcon, a sun trap where champagne can be sipped.
An hour of One’s Own
Rest in the stillness of your room, have a bath or a nap, reset. If a massage is in order, a few steps takes you to ORB in town, and let peace wash over you.
Refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated. Let’s gather and reconnect.
Aperitivo hour with a Negroni or two in Fern, a boardgame by the Fire in the Tap Bar, or enjoying the conversation of where your day took you in the lounge. Evenings are about sharing time, and we’ve created spaces for just that.
Dinner
Dinner at Fern, our AA Rosette awarded restaurant is the highlight of the day! Small, seasonal plates with hero ingredients lead the way in our dining experience. All of our spirits and aperitifs are British, and we believe in using all the animal; not just the posh bits. Challenge yourself and your tastes as we guide you through what the land has to offer that week.
Something to sip before sleep?
Dinner winds down but we’re not ready for the evening to end. Fall into one of our sofas with a cosy hot chocolate (we like ours with a Rutland Rum in it). The day is coming to an end, like all great days must.
Jump into bed
Let’s face it, we all jump onto the big bed when we go into our hotel rooms! Jump on, snuggle in and sleep tight.
The next day dawns…
A fresh morning in The Falcon begins, and there’s no rush to leave. Take your time, enjoy the comforts you’ve become familiar with.
If you’re heading back to the everyday, or staying a little while longer, you’re rested and ready to seize the day.
